The weekend before

Posting about my weekend which included spectating at the Boston Marathon seems lame..  I really can’t think about much else the last few days, and I’m just hoping they catch the soul-less bastard.

Lets start with some eats shall we?
I’ve eaten the same exact breakfast practically every day..  (Except this morning in particular there was crumbled paleo chocolate chunk cookie in there- that only happened once I swear)
(Banana, Fage 2% plain yogurt, almond butter, chia seeds, homemade salty coconut chips)

I am obsessed with Lamb.. I know I said that like 5 times in the last couple of weeks.. but it’s true.
Friday night I had plans to go to a girly wine night- but before I went, James and I spent a couple of hours together and decided to go to Carrabbas for a little appetizer and a glass of wine
Considering it’s a chain restaurant- this was a nice, fresh tasting appetizer. And really who wouldn’t love a big ball of cheese and fresh basil?
Sunday I got up and ran 4 miles, then came straight home for a quick shower before heading out for a 5 mile hike with James and the boys. We came across this super old cemetery in the middle of nowhere..
Factoid- I HATE cemeteries.. they scare the bejesus out of me, so I never actually set foot inside of it and just kept my distance while James and the pups looked around.
By the time we were getting close to the end of our hike, we were both starved and my legs felt like lead. So we went off the paths and just made our own way in an attempt to get back faster.. This way included bushwhacking and huge hills.. I was not impressed.
We walked through the door with one thing on our minds.. FOOD. I don’t actually remember what else we ate besides these chicken legs (which James made an amazing honey mustard glaze for)
Later in the evening we watched a movie (The Life of Pi) and decided that we were going to take the commuter train up to Boston and check out the marathon since James had the day off..

Weekend in Review

Friday
I started the day off with a 45 minute Tuna walk around the hood before heading off to work. The place was DEAD.. I seriously waited on 3 of the 8 tables that came in all day, so I left early to hang out with James. We headed to Providence for a very chilly walk around the city with Tuna.. (We are trying to get him around as many people and places as possible to desensitize him since he is nervous of loud noises and such- plus as a “Pit Bull Mix” people are automatically going to be sketchy around him, and we want him to be used to that and change their skewed views on the breed with all of his smooches!)
By the time we got home he was pooped
Aren’t they cute together? Sammy totally loves him
(He jumped on the chair to lay next to him- which is basically the dog version of spitting in your palm and shaking)
We made some dinner before heading out to meet our friends for a drink.
It was a nice low key night :)

Saturday
I went to work- and ended my shift with a $10 tip on a $150 check- This is a table that I had to sing Happy Birthday to among other things and they didn’t even leave 10%.. So I asked them how my service was.. They said it was great, etc..  I just don’t get it.. Being a waitress really blows sometimes.

After work James and I walked Tuna to our friends’ house to see what they were up to. We decided to head over the the shoe store since I need to buy new running shoes and our friend Scott was in the market for some new shoes as well.
I have been looking for new shoes for a while- but I have commitment issues.. especially when sneakers are over $100 a pair.. Eventually I settled on Brooks Pure Cadence2
They are my first pair of minimal sneakers and was very excited except for the price.. $120- ouch.. Pretty sure my credit card is still crying.
After the shoe buying we came back to our place and played Uno..

Sunday
I took my new kicks for their very first run
If nothing else they look awesome and make me feel cool
Well so far so good! I could instantly tell the difference between these and the other shoes I was running in.  I think I like them ;)

We did some random stuff during the afternoon and then headed out to see Tenacious D
“Balcony” is code word for the very last row of seats with noses bleeding- it didn’t matter it still rocked our socks off and we were excited about it
The show started with Sasquatch playing a Bigfoot guitar and singing.. he was pretty awesome actually
Followed by KG and Jack Black rockin’ the house.. super amazing and awesome :)

On the way home we grabbed a pint of Ben and Jerrys
And proceeded to eat the entire pint between the two of us.. It was fantastic and I’m not the least bit ashamed :)

Monday
Morning walk the with The Big Tuna followed by a bunch of errands and house cleaning.
I checked the mail and found this
Apparently the folks at the vets office where Hydro was put to rest- took his foot prints and mailed them to us with a wonderful handwritten condolence message. I bawled the moment I saw it..
The funny thing was- as I was vacuuming earlier in the day, I was thinking of Hydro (and the fact that I will probably be vacuuming his hair up for the next 2 years) Man I miss his presence <3 nbsp="" p="">

The afternoon was a coffee date with James followed by a walk around the hood with my friend Laura and her dog.
Then off to teach- dinner and wine to end the night :)

Weekend Edition- Back half

Just like that, POOF! The weekend is over. It has definitely been a full one.
Getting up this morning was tough, knowing I would have to work all day, but coffee got me through! The day went by pretty quickly, as most weekend shifts tend to do. Your waiting on so many customers everything is pretty much a blur and before you know it, you get to go home an hour earlier than expected, SCORE!
Straight from work I hunkered down with my text book and lots more post its
It may be getting a bit out of control. With less than 3 weeks left, I’m starting to really freak out.. I’m not gonna lie.. I’m just working hard and hoping I pull through.. I got in a good 2 hour session, which I considered a success.. Especially after working all day.
Afterwards I was so mentally exhausted I knew I needed to blow off some steam. I decided to get a bit sweaty with a little workout..
I completed a 5 minute plank hold and ZWOW 28 for a total of 15 minutes I was out of breath and sweating my ass off.. It felt great and was just what I needed to decompress.
I jumped in the shower only to get sweaty a few minutes later cleaning our spare room or what we call the yoga room. A few friends are staying for a couple days so I wanted to make sure it was spic and span before making them sleep on the floor. Ok, they actually will have a thai massage mat (which is similar to a futon mattress to sleep on,  but it will be on the floor either way) Man cleaning is hard work and I was starved by the time I finished.
Our friends came by for dinner and it was the perfect way to end the weekend..

Weekend edition- the front half

Hey guys! Hope your enjoying your Saturday :) So far we have been relaxing and I’ve been catching up on some homework. Not exactly what I want to be doing on a Saturday, but it’s crunch time and I’m doing my best to stay on task!
Before study time, there was coffee and Sopranos- I was hoping to catch some Olympic action- but it hadn’t started yet, boo! I made some pancakes for James

And ate my usual- Greek yogurt, ground flax seeds, banana and PB2- of which I used the last of the 3 jars I bought and hoarded from my visit to NC. My house is officially nut butter free as of this breakfast.. I might go into shock if I don’t restock soon..
Once fed we let everything digest before moving our living room furniture out of the way and tackling Julie’s Sunrise Circuit. This workout was awesome, I loved doing the core workout in between each circuit. I did change the amount of rest between each exercise within each circuit to 5 seconds instead of 15 because I really wanted to keep our heart rates HIGH. I’m pretty sure James had no idea what was coming to him, but he was a good sport anyway :)
I showered, got ready and hung around for a bit before I realized that it was already lunch time and if I was going to study today, I was going to have to get it done soon. I made a quick lunch with a salad the size of my head and some Lupini Beans..
WHAT?!? You don’t know what Lupini Beans are?! If there are any Italian kids out there, you might know what I’m talking about.. But for the rest of you guys
These little yellow beans are prepared and sit in a salty brine.. The stats aren’t too shabby
(Incase you can’t see it- 1/4 cup has only 30 calories and 3g of protein and fiber!) Obviously they do contain a bit of salt, but they are so yummy and addicting that I don’t worry about it.
They are similar to a soybean pod in a way (But you don’t have to cook them).. See they have an inedible skin on them
So to eat them, you just put the little "belly button” side in your mouth and pinch the opposite side, making the bean pop out- You should totally give them a try, they are usually in the “Italian” section at the grocery store :)
Yeah I totally killed the rest of the jar- at least it was less than half full.

I did the studying thang for over 2 hours and I’m feeling pretty good about the pace I’ve been at.. Looks like I’m going to finish in time after all :)

Now lets back track a bit to last night..

My friend and neighbor was hosting an adult toy party.. You know the ones..
It was good fun.. But the highlight for me were the jello shots..
They were made in orange peels! My yoga boss and I were really loving them
Between her, Carla and myself.. the aftermath..
They were just too good :)

Ever been to one of these parties?
